Focused Organization
Guidance Capital embraces only a few, well defined pursuits. Namely, we conduct research on a select group of hedge fund strategies and run multi-manager products based on that research.
No Distractions – No Conflicts We hire outside specialists to handle almost everything else. Non-core functions such as our technology, legal needs, fund accounting and marketing are outsourced. Unlike many competing firms, Guidance suffers little distraction and less potential conflict with client interests.
Employees own 100% of Guidance Capital. We do not own equity stakes in the companies with which we invest. So we have no incentive to retain an invested manager that should be replaced. We do not receive compensation from arrangements that are hidden from our investors – the firm only earns money from the fees it charges directly. We do not sell databases or offer consulting services.
Focused Investment Strategy Even within the hedge fund universe, the firm focuses on a subset of alternative strategies. We only pursue strategies that have an economic logic to their returns. Strategies that depend primarily on the genius of an individual hold little interest for us.
The firm currently concentrates on the more liquid and less directional hedge fund strategies indicated in the chart below.

Organization Resilience Focus has helped us build a solid organization. Every position at the firm has a shadow. We have two senior managing members and two non-managing members who work closely with them. Responsibilities for individual investments are shared and rotate regularly among the firm’s investment professionals to preserve a deep institutional understanding of the firm’s investments. The firm has two compliance officers. We have a fully developed compliance program designed to comply with the regulatory requirements of the SEC, NFA and CFTC. Internal systems include a multi-layered disaster recovery program.
Guidance Capital concentrates on doing a few things very well.
